How to Prevent Potty Training Accidents

Trying to toilet train even the most "perfect" child can be extremely trying for any parent, and when your child is having repeated potty training accidents, you may find that you feel like you should just give up and try a few months down the line.
The truth is that if you do this, you will be undoing a lot of the good work that you have already done and you will also set a dangerous precedent for your child. That makes it all the more important that you know the right time to start toilet training.
Starting too early could end up in disaster and you will find that you have non-stop toilet training accidents for months on end. Therefore, before you even think about starting the transition from diaper to "big boy" or "big girl" underpants, make sure that your child is ready.

There are many tricks that parents have developed over the years to prevent potty training accidents, some of which are pretty obvious, such as having multiple toilets throughout the house in case your child feels the urge.

Other accidents can be avoided by constantly reminding your child of the need to use the toilet, or asking him or her if they have to go. If your child continues to say that they don't have to go, yet you know that it should be about time, it is not a bad idea to have them sit on the toilet and wait for it to happen.
This will let their muscle memory begin to learn the correlation between sitting in that position and going to the bathroom. Of course, you can't stop every accident from happening, and it may take several months before they stop, but by using the right training techniques, you can make potty training a lot easier on you and your child.
