Colleges Offering Online Degrees - Finding the Right One for You
The opportunity to earn a college degree has been made much easier for non-traditional students thanks to the internet. Before the internet provided the opportunity to earn college degrees online, a non-traditional student's option for college just twenty years ago was to try to find one of the few colleges that offered night classes, but if a night school degree program couldn't be found, many potential college graduates simply let their dream of graduating fade unfulfilled. The internet has renewed this dream for many people with more colleges offering online degrees today than every before. But as you search through the many options for earning an online degree, how can you tell which program is right for you.
First, you need to understand that not all colleges offering online degrees are created equal, so proper research is in order. You've likely heard about the option that some alleged colleges offer, which simply exchanges your cash payment for a college degree without any studying or coursework involved. If you want to use your degree in a job search or later to get into a Master's program, you need to make sure you earn your degree from an accredited college or university. It would be really damaging to your career to try to get a job with a phony degree you bought for a few hundred dollars.
For people who want to get a real education while earning their college degree, you simply need to consider accredited colleges offering online degrees. Accredited programs offer the same quality of education regardless of if you attend classes in a live setting or online. A degree from an accredited school can be used for further education by getting you into a Master's degree program as well. So keep this important tip in mind as you look through the various online degree programs available to you.

Since Psychology is a subject of science, most colleges require students to have studied Science during their high school days. Psychology at this level is taught with the aim to prepare the students for higher studies. The students are kept busy throughout the three years for which are usually the course length in the US, with projects, assignments and test. The reason why such engagements are scheduled for the students is because it helps them assimilate the coursework without making the extra effort or feeling the burden. The psychology degree online at the graduation level helps students to prepare themselves for a job as most students are either pursuing jobs or plan to get professionally engaged after the completion of the courses.
Beginners' Courses: These courses are exclusively for those who are intrigued by the subject or inspired by someone to study the subject formally. People coming from diverse streams join the basic or associate's level of course in order to build their knowledge and be officially versed with the subject. The course lengths vary from institution to institution while the syllabus remains the same in most cases. At the end of the course, the students are counseled by career experts so that making future decisions about the academic pursuits are well aided and guided.
It is important that you have the base prepared for pursuing higher courses when you are taking up something as composite as Psychology.

Continuing Education For Architects and Engineers in Wood Preservation
Untreated wood left exposed to outdoor conditions becomes susceptible to decay and degradation by natural forces. While some species of trees have some degree of natural resistance to decay most of the commonly used species do not. Therefore wood left exposed to the elements should be protected against decay and destructive insects by applying chemical preservatives. Several factors influence the degree of protection that can be achieved with chemical preservatives, including the species of wood being treated, the type of chemical being applied, the method of application, the degree of penetration of the preservative into the wood and the length of time the chemical is retained in the wood.
Wood preservatives are a type of pesticide, and as such their use is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency. Certain preservatives are available for use by the general public while others, referred to as "restricted use" preservatives, are only available for use by certified applicators. Wood products treated with restricted use preservatives are not considered toxic by the EPA and their purchase and use is not regulated by the EPA. Consumers may obtain EPA approved Consumer Information Sheets from retailers for more information about different preservatives and the proper disposal of treated products.
There are three general types of exposure categories for wood preservatives, including ground contact, above-ground contact and marine exposure. Products exposed to ground contact conditions are highly susceptible to decay and require a heavy-duty preservative, usually applied through pressure-treatment. Products exposed to above-ground conditions are less susceptible to decay and are usually treated with non-pressure-treatment methods. Wood products exposed to under-water or marine environments are extremely susceptible to decay and require heavy-duty preservative treatments.
There are two general types of wood preservatives, including oilborne preservatives and waterborne preservatives.
Oilborne preservatives include, among others, coal-tar creosote, pentachlorophenol solutions, copper naphthenate, chlorothalonil, chlorothalonil/chlorpyrifos, oxine copper, zinc naphthenate, alkyl ammonium compound, propiconazole and tebuconazole. These chemicals are use in pressure-treatment methods and each has different uses, restrictions, benefits and hazards associated with them. Oilborne preservatives can also have an effect on the color, odor, paintability and fire protection attributes of the treated wood. While some of the volatile solvents may be removed after treatment doing so may adversely affect the degree of protection.
Waterborne preservatives have less of an objectionable effect on wood surfaces in terms of cleanliness, odors and paintability than oilborne preservatives. There are numerous variations of waterborne preservatives, including acid copper chromate, ammoniacal copper zinc arsenate, chromated copper arsenate, ammoniacal copper quat, ammoniacal copper citrate, copper azole and inorganic boron. As with oilborne preservatives the different waterborne preservatives each have different uses, restrictions, benefits and hazards associated with them.
The effectiveness of a preservative is dependent upon several factors, including the protective value of the chemical used, the method of application, the penetration and retention of the preservative, the proportion of heartwood to sapwood of the product and the moisture content at the time of application. The effectiveness of treatment is also very dependent upon the species of wood as the level of penetration into heartwood varies greatly by species. In general, the penetration into heartwood is greater with softwood species as opposed to hardwood species. Timbers should be properly prepared before treatment. This includes proper peeling, seasoning or conditioning and machined.
Preservatives are applied using either a pressure process or a non-pressure process. In pressure processes the wood is impregnated with the preservative chemical in closed vessels under very high pressure. In non-pressure processes the preservative is generally applied to the surface of the product in one of several different ways.
Pressure processes include the full-cell, or Bethel, process, the modified full-cell process and the empty-cell process. The full-cell process entails sealing the product in a treatment cylinder, inducing a vacuum, introducing the preservative and then applying pressure for a period of time until the desired penetration is achieved. The modified full-cell process is the same as the full-cell process with the exception that a final vacuum may be induced at the end of the process. The empty-cell process is one in which pressurized air is first forced into the treatment cylinder, followed by the introduction of the preservative. As the preservative is forced in the pressurized air is allowed to escape, keeping the pressure in the cylinder constant. After the cylinder is completely filled with preservative the pressure is increased until the wood will not absorb additional preservative. At this point the remaining preservative is drained from the cylinder and a vacuum applied.
Non-pressure processes generally consist of surface applications, soaking and steeping, diffusion, and vacuum processes. Surface applications, through brushing or dipping, are the simplest methods of applying preservatives. Soaking wood products for hours or days in preservative oils or steeping in waterborne preservatives is also widely used. Diffusion is a process in which the product is first steeped in one preservative chemical and then in another, allowing the two chemicals to react. In the vacuum process the product is placed in a treatment cylinder, an initial vacuum is induced, the preservative is introduce under vacuum, the vacuum is released and the product is allowed to soak for a period of time, after which another vacuum is induced to remove excess preservative.
Architects, engineers and construction contractors should be well versed in the types of wood preservatives, their uses and application methods. The study of wood preservatives is an excellent topic for the continuing education requirements of these professionals. More information is available from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service.

Transcription Schools Online - Are They Really Worth the Money?
Don't be fooled! There are no legitimately "accredited" or "certified" or otherwise transcription schools online. General transcription encompasses such a wide range of transcription services including, but not at all limited to: focus groups, podcasts, meetings, presentations, investigations, interviews, sermons and anything else that can be recorded, there is no one niche format or one specific way that documents should be transcribed or any specific terminology courses that you can take that are unique to any one industry.
I have seen some alleged transcription schools online that are charging an exorbitant amount of money, which I personally think is highway robbery, that claim to "teach" you general transcription or appear as though you're going to get some kind of certification or diploma when you're finished. I would say stay clear of any "course" that's trying to milk you for a few hundred bucks talking this kind of hype. It's just not worth it.
With some research, the right tools, which most people already have on hand today, and some free programs, just about anyone who has a desire to learn and a desire to earn can make a living in this industry without paying hundreds of dollars for any alleged transcription schools online.
So what will these alleged schools or expensive courses claim to teach you? Why, the same things you can learn yourself without expensive schools and for free!
* Just as with all medical or legal transcription careers, general transcription also requires excellent English skills - grammar, punctuation and spelling - as well as proficient use of the computer and word processing programs. For contractors outsourcing this work, general transcription is frequently paid on a piecework basis; therefore, typing skills are essential.
* Some technical skills are required, such as how to use email and FTP; sending and receiving or downloading digital audio files over the Internet is rather critical and can be learned quickly, without spending any money.
* Great listening skills are key; you'll need to listen, hear and capture nearly every word and type it as you hear it.
* Good typing speed; while some transcription companies, as you go to apply with them, may require upwards of 65-90 wpm, if you're starting out doing overflow work on focus groups, for instance, you may be able to get by with 50 wpm if the turnaround time (the amount of time needed to get the document transcribed and back to the client) is more than 24 or 48 hours.
So again, although general transcription requires flexibility and excellent basic skills, there are no credible formal education or transcription schools online available for becoming a general transcriptionist.
So how do you learn what you need to learn to get started in this field? If you're not good at typing, you can take some free online typing skills tests to brush up. Also, the longer and more often you type, the faster you will get naturally.
How is your English grammar and punctuation? Again, there are some free English grammar resources for brushing up on your grammar and spelling skills, as well as using your word processor program's spell checking features.
And technical skills with the computer and file transfers, again, there is a lot of free instruction today for learning these sorts of things. If you're familiar with YouTube.com, the video instruction is endless!
Another free resource for finding out more information from transcriptionists that do this every day for a living is the WAHM Transcription Services forum. Just browse the forum, read through the information, the post questions if you have any. You're likely to even find overflow work in the forums too from some busy transcriptionists that will help you get your feet wet in the world of general transcription.
And if you need some brushing up on MS Word, WordTips.com is an excellent resource for getting unstuck - all of this without spending a dime!

The Hebrew Letter Hey
The letter Hey is the fifth letter of the Hebrew Alphabet. It's ancient Paleo Hebrew pictograph form kind of looks like a Dalet but with a Yod inside. The Yod represents the hand of power, it's the first letter of the name of God and so what we have is the power of the open door.
The evolution of the letter Hey starts with a pictograph of a man jumping up and down and then the Ktav Ivri which looks like a comb in its pictograph. Then you have the Ktav Ashurit which is also known as the classical Hebrew. Back in the time when Yeshua walked on this earth, this is what He would have looked at and as well as maybe an older script that might have been available on scrolls. And then today we have the Book Type. Hey's number is five because it's the fifth letter of the Hebrew Alphabet. I have mentioned in my previous articles that all numbers have meanings and spiritual meanings as well.
If we look for the deeper meaning of the Ancient Paleo pictograph which looks like a man jumping up and down, fundamentally it means behold! look! revelation! That is what the fifth letter in the Hebrew Alphabet means. It is revelation, to behold, something new, you've gained new insight, God has revealed something to you and your so happy so you jump up and down. If today, this person would look like a man in a worship service, he is a man with his hands raised praising the Father because he has revelation that He so deserves to be praised.
Hey also has some representations. It represents the breath of the Almighty, the divine revelation and His light. The foundation of Hey is the breath of God, divine revelation and light because light is something that brings revelation. It reveals something. Light is mentioned five times on the first of creation which is the number of Hey. Light, "or" in Hebrew is mentioned five times in the first day of creation which is definitely not a coincidence.
There is a connection in everything, if we can put together all the coincidences just found probably just in the first chapter of our bible, you can write another 66 books just about connecting the dots that we can't even see. He's a very big God and He is very good in what He does. Everything He does is for a reason. The breath, it is composed of a Yod inside of a Dalet and is pronounced only with breath. The Hey is amazing because it's not a guttural sound, it's pronounced not with the lips, it is pronounced just with breath, Hey. Anytime you have a silent letter or a letter that is coming from just breath, it is very powerful because you are connecting with the Ruach, you're connecting with the spirit because the spirit is like wind, it is like air which moves across the vocal chords and creates a sound and we're dealing with the spirit.

High School Math Can Be Fun
Mathematics is known as the language of physics, and it is a very important part of everyone's life. Mathematics is used in all facets of life. But, one of the problems with math is that it is termed as a difficult subject. Even before students learn the subject or even are exposed to it, they are filled with the presumption that math is very difficult. But, the fact of matter is that math is a very simple subject if it is taught properly, and if the student understands it from the basics. Here are a few tips to make high school math fun.
Diagrammatic Explanation
Figures and diagrams are used very often in mathematics. That is because describing a problem in terms of figures will give you a better understanding of the problem. In case a student does not follow the question with the diagram, the answer can be depicted diagrammatically, and can be explained to the student more clearly. Most of the times, this method works fabulously, with students who find math difficult. So, it is always important that a maths tutor is able to diagrammatically represent both a question and its answer.
Number Games
Using number games is a very old and effective ways of teaching math to students, who feel that math is hard. There are different types of number games that the maths tutor can come up with. For example, when teaching probability, you can use the example of having a set of colored balls in a box. You can work out how you want to convey the concept to the students. Similarly, there are other number games that you can choose from books, or devise on your own, to teach math to students.
Team Activities
There is also another way of teaching math, where you split the students into teams and set them up against each other. This will breed a competitive spirit among the participants, and motivate them to help each other out, to learn the concepts and be better than the other team. However, you will need a set of students, at least 4, for this type of approach.
Real Life Examples
You can also use real life examples to make students understand math concepts. This approach is a little tricky, as it involves a lot of homework for the maths tutor. But, once the tutor gets a hang of this approach, this is one of the most effective ways of teaching math.
